Idyllic tips to Prepare for SSC CGL Tier II Exam

After getting the result of your performance in SSC Tier-I exam, it’s the right time to start your preparations for SSC CGL Tier-II exam. In this article, we will specially focus on the ideal tips to prepare for SSC CGL Tier-II exam. As a competent aspirant, you are required to know few relevant facts about SSC CGL Tier-II exam, before starting your preparations. Firstly, this exam will be conducted online and Paper 1 and Paper 2 are compulsory for all the aspirants. The candidates who have applied for the post of Statistical Investigator only are supposed to appear in Paper 3. Similarly, the candidates who have applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) only are supposed to appear in Paper 4. There will be a break of 2 hours between Quantitative Aptitude Section and English Section exams. Lastly, the negative marking for Paper 1, 3 and 4 is 0.50 marks and for Paper 2 are 0.25 marks, so avoid guess work and prepare well for the exam.

The important tips to score well in Tier II exams are as follows:-
  1. The candidates should be well aware of the syllabus and exam pattern of Tier-II exam. Let us reiterate that the syllabus and exam pattern of Tier-I and Tier-II exam are almost same but still you have to put extra efforts to crack Tier-II exam.
  2. You should be aware of the SSC CGL cut-off to get a clear picture of your target. It will help you in qualifying this exam.
  3. The topic of Advanced Arithmetic plays major role in Tier-II exam as around 50 percent of questions are asked from this topic. You are supposed to learn basics and concepts properly. It will enhance your speed of solving and brighten your chances of selection.
  4. In Tier-II exam syllabus, three new topics- Voice, Narration and Para Jumble have been added to the English section. The topics of Voice and Narration are based on rules and so are very scoring. You should learn rules properly and try to practice questions based on them. Similarly, you should try to improve your reading habit to score well in Reading Comprehension section and Cloze Test section.
  5. After completing the entire, you should plan a time-table for revision. You should practice hard on mock tests and analyze your performances and make a list of difficult and complex questions. To enhance your speed and accuracy, master these concepts and try to solve these questions with short tricks or fixed methods.
  6. You should try to learn from your mistakes and shortcomings and not shy away from it. Do try to read the questions correctly and try to figure out its solution logically. The main purpose of attempting mock tests is to get familiarize with the exam pattern. It will not only enhance your speed and accuracy but also builds a confidence in you.
  7. While entering the examination hall, do have a mindset of solving easier questions first and then move towards moderate to difficult questions. You will start confident in the exam and this is very important to reduce mental pressure.
  8. As mentioned earlier, there is negative marking and so don’t try guess work in any of the questions. It can jeopardize your bright chances of selection. It should be noted that maximum correct answers will fetch you a handsome score and success in Tier-II exam.
  9. Lastly, you should be mentally prepared and optimistic enough to face any sort of complex questions as you have prepared well for this exam for months. So, it is advisable to stay cool and positive on the examination day.
